How would you describe Jalawelo?

Jalawelo is a Christian faith-based nonprofit that is motivated by love for God and for others. Our team is committed to providing real help and not just handouts to the people we serve.

How will I know if I have been accepted to YAC?

You will receive an acceptance email from Jalawelo with an Information & Release form for you to complete and send back to us.

Will the program be online or in person?

Most of the training and learning will be accomplished online. YAC members will, however, participate in regular face-to-face meetups with their peers.

Why is the program described as a "launchpad".

YAC members will receive individual guidance to begin an initial area of IT training based on interest and aptitude. However, this training is just the beginning of a lifelong journey to excel in the industry.

How long is the program?

To graduate from the program you must successfully complete Cycle 1 and Cycle 2 over an eight-month period. However, YAC members who excel in the program may be invited to continue to receive additional support after graduation and receiving the initial certification.

What will I learn so that I can be prepared for a career?

You will be select an IT (Information Technology) focus area such as project management, UX design, or software engineering. These are just examples. An IT coach will work with you to identify the best career path based on your interest and your strengths.

What are the other components of the program?

In addition to online IT training, YAC members will participate in leadership and communication sessions and social and volunteer activities. You will also engage in faith-based conversations with your peers.
